Work nazi’s
I started a new job. But wait, before you get all excited, it’s not a job I am going to stay at. It’s something to earn money for now until I can find something better…
I shouldn’t have taken this job to begin with tho, but that’s because they pay crap. I honestly should have hung up on them when they told me what the pay was. But no, I needed something, anything, even if it wasn’t something that I really wanted to be doing.
So here I am, in the second week and I am already regretting having taken this job! I am not even really out of training yet and I hate it there. Call Centers are filled with mostly bullshit, which is the reason I didn’t want to go back to them.
I’ll give you an example of the bullshit I am already dealing with. I wear a grey hoodie to stay warm in chilly buildings, now I have been wearing it for the past two weeks and nobody, including the trainer, the call center manager, or even the person who hired me has said anything. However on Thursday my manager whom I was asking a question, first answered the question and then said “oh by the way you can’t wear that jacket, because of the material it’s made of it’s against the dress code”.
I told her that it was the only thing that I had and I have two, so she said go out and buy something new. I fired back “With what money? I’m broke, and I don’t get a paycheck until June 2nd.” So she said well we will give you until then and then you can go out and buy something new.
Ok first of all, what do they expect me to wear? What the fuck else is there? A heavy jacket, a wind breaker, or something I have to spend a crap load of money, that I DON’T HAVE, on stupidity? I mean really, there are other people wearing the same material I am as jackets and NOBODY says shit to them. Why then is it me that the bullshit gets handed to?
Well this time I am fighting back. I got my employee handbook and I read the dress code from beginning to end, and there is absolutely nothing in it about my jacket choice, nor is there anything in there about the material except to say that I cannot wear at anytime sweat pants, which is not what I am doing. So Monday I am going to talk to my manager once again and I am going to tell her that I believe that she was incorrect in questioning my jacket, and if necessary I will show her the dress code and prove to her that there is nothing therein contained which bans the jacket in question. I’m not buying shit!
As if all of that isn’t bad enough, I have to work nine hours a day Monday thru Thursday and then four hours on Saturday with Fridays and Sundays off. Now working nine hours is nothing compared to the time I was at FEMA, but I am getting cheated in the long run, they get to keep me all fucking day long and there isn’t shit I can do about it.
Ok so today (Saturday) I went into work, not really wanting to be there in the first place, but there I was indeed. I clocked in on time I sat down to my computer and I proceeded to log into the systems I have to get into. I get everything ready and its minutes from 9 am which is when I have to log into the phone so I will not be considered late.
When what happens, the seat nazi comes over and says I have to move. Now maybe I should explain that I am still kinda in training and they have me in a special queue so that I am only taking certain calls. I am also sitting in a special area they have set up for new hires so that all the new people are together. Now I am a little compulsive and at every new desk I sit at I clean it vigorously with Clorox wipes to get rid of any funk or anyone else’s germs.
So I was first annoyed at the prospect of having to move because I was logged in to all systems and I had everything set up on the desk the way I like it and the desk was clean because I had made it so. And second I was annoyed because when I asked him why I had to move he said because we only have a limited amount of seats and I need you to move. I CALL BULLSHIT ON THAT ANSWER!! Not only do they have enough seats to go around I was sitting in an assigned seat! So basically what he was saying was because I said you have to move that’s why, which is not a good enough reason for me or anyone else.
Wait, what about the rest of the trainees you ask? Well i’m glad you asked that, not only did they NOT have to move, nobody said shit to them all day. Also I am not even on that guy’s team ( He’s not even a manager he’s a lead. ) so I don’t know what his deal is but he is at the top of my shit list. (That’s another thing I am bringing up Monday)
I swear that the place I work for is filled with stupidity; they don’t even have any managers on duty on Saturdays, how wrong is that? I swear it’s a poorly managed company full of inconsistency and no pay. I honestly don’t know why the state ever chose to work with them.
You know what the sad part is? I have so much call center experience I could revolutionize some of the way they do business with just some of what I have learned at other companies. However at this point they haven’t earned my loyalty, or even my respect, I have nothing but contempt for them at the moment.
Well I suppose that is enough ranting for one post. Sadly I do not feel any better for having gotten it all off my chest. I don’t think I will feel any better until I say in the immortal words of Johnny paycheck
“Take this job and shove it! I ain’t workin here no more!”
