Applied For.

Thanks to the alerted-ness of Erica, I recently went to the local power company for an assessment. I had been under the impression that it was an interview so I was quite excited. When I found out that no, it was just the assessment. I was a bit disappointed, but only because I had been so excited.

So the assessment is broken down into three categories: Clerical, Math, and a letter.
Clerical wasn’t that bad, it was just the fuckin longest. Math was next and wasn’t that bad as they gave us a calculator. But it was the last test that really threw me for a loop. I had to write a letter. And I mean actually write, with a pencil and very badly computer lined and over copied paper.

They wanted it to be very specific you had an outline of what they wanted you to write but they only gave us twenty five minutes to write it. I had to quickly think out how I wanted the letter to appear and then write it careful not to make any mistakes. Well I believe that if I’d had a computer that it wouldn’t have taken the entire twenty five minutes. Not to mention that the pencil I was using was dull to begin with.

Yeah I am complaining. But that’s because I grew up using a computer. From my point of view, who actually hand writes letters now a days? I have Word; I use that to correct all my spelling and grammar errors.

The reason I’m making such a big deal is because they said that you had to pass all three tests to be called back for an interview. So there you have it. I wont be called back.
